  • Yes, Pinterest has no chat Facility. This actually makes it even better, any one can follow you and you can follow  everyone without worrying about "Privacy".
  • Pinterest is all about 2 words: Pins and Boards.

What Is A Pin?

  • Once you create a Pinterest account you can browse all of the “Pins” (Just like Facebook has posts, twitter has tweets, pinterest has pins). Pins are nothing but images/videos pinned by people whom you follow on Pinterest.

  • Your Pinterest home page will be filled with lots of thumbnails of pins.  Just like Facebook has News Feed where you can see posts from your friends, Pinterest homepage will show you posts from people whom you follow.
  • This is how a pin looks like: http://pinterest.com/pin/150589181261345194/

How To Add Pins?

  • The easiest and most fun way to add pins is through the “Pin It” Button.
  • Simply Add the the "pin it" button to your Browser's Bookmarks bar and you are all set to pin from the web. Get the "pin it" button from here: http://pinterest.com/about/goodies/
  • Now, if you visit any website and like an article/blog/image/video simply follow these steps:
    • Press the "pin it" button on your browser
    • Select the image from the list of images that generates once you press the "pin it" button
    • Select the board you want to add the pin to.
    • Add a description to the pin in the text box and press enter. That's it. You just pinned :)

What Are Boards?

  • Pins which are of same type can be categorized into "Boards". For example, Home decor ideas can all be put into a board named "Home Ideas", pins of cooking recipes can be categorized into a board "Recipes". Some example Boards:

How to Repin and Like a Pin:

  • If you like a pin, simply press the "like" button. Just like you "like" the posts on Facebook/Google+ or "Favorite" tweets on Twitter. The "Like" and "Repin" buttons can be seen the screenshot which is following.
  • Repin is similar to "Retweet" of Twitter or "Share" button of Facebook/Google+.
  • Whenever you like something that someone has shared on Pinterest and want to save it on one of your Boards, simply click the “Repin” button at the top of the image. If you are viewing a thumbnail of the image hover your mouse over the image and the “Repin” button will show up, if you’ve opened the image in the full-size view the “Repin” button will be at the top. Checkout the screenshot below:
  • Once you click on the repin button to choose the board onto which you want to pin it:
